Start by closing your eyes and sitting in a nice straight posture. Take a few deep breaths here, relaxing your Central Nervous System. Mentally scan your body from head to toe, noticing any areas of tension. When you notice an area that is tense, deliberately tense the area as much as you can, hold it for a moment, and then release it, allowing the tension to melt away so your entire body can be relaxed and comfortable as you focus your attention on giving thanks to the Universe for what you already have and for what you will have. Continue to take a few more deep breaths and allow yourself to be really present in this moment in time.
Start by feeling gratitude for being able to be right here, right now in this room and being afforded the opportunity to practice an uplifting meditation exercise. Be thankful to the chair you are sitting upon for supporting your body. Feel gratitude for being surrounded by these wonderful people sitting in this room with you. Be grateful that you can be inside in a comfortable room. Feel thankful for the clothes on your body and the shoes on your feet that are keeping you warm. Extend that gratitude towards the food you eat on a daily basis that provides you sustenance and pleasure. Feel grateful for the roof over your head and the pillow upon which you rest your head at night. Feel gratitude for your relative good health.
Be thankful for the opportunities to talk with people throughout the day—especially cherish those that say hello with a smile and ask you how your day is going. Picture in your mind the people one by one that show their care for you, that talk with you, and help you on a regular basis. Extend your gratitude out towards them one at a time and then finally put all of those people in one room together in your mind and allow your gratitude in the form of a radiant but soft yellow light wash over them.
Feel gratitude for your ability to have the presence of mind to be here, to be able to receive new information today, and to have the opportunity for personal growth.
Extend your gratitude into the future. Image what you want most in life as if you already have it. Imagine it in as much vivid detail as possible, using all of your senses. Most importantly evoke the emotion you feel as a result of having what you want. Sit with that emotion for several minutes. If it is joy then allow this joy to radiate through your body as you visualize what you want most in life. There you are—your desire and needs all satisfied—you are feeling the joy that comes with it and you are feeling grateful—so grateful for that joy. You are that joy.
There is so much to be grateful for. And the more grateful you are, the more abundance you will attract. So try to maintain this attitude of gratitude throughout the day and throughout your week. Make it a regular practice—don’t wait until the fourth Thursday in November to give thanks. Do it every day and you are guaranteed to have even greater joy.
NAMASTE,
Brooke
