Laughter Meditation--short, easy, and super effective!



You've heard of laughter yoga?  Well, what about laughter meditation??

I had such a good idea for a meditation today.  It's short and super easy and SUPER effective as a mood-booster.  I got the idea when I heard a good friend at work laughing hysterically in the next room over as I was sitting at my desk banging away at some mind-numbing work.  I couldn't help but smile even though I had no idea what he was laughing about.  His laugh is just that infectious.  I started chatting with another good friend sitting next to me at the time and we started discussing who we thought had the best laughs and we arrived at a rather exhaustive list.  I thought that it would be a great meditation practice to sit for a few moments and just focus on the image and sound of those favorite laughs.  When I tried this myself, I was chuckling to myself by the end of it.

You may already know that if you are in a poopy mood, you should try putting a smile on your face in order to send messages to your brain that you are actually feeling good.  But where does that smile come from?  It's certainly more effective if it's genuine--so try this practice out next time you need a lift!
