How About A RADICAL Shift in Perception?

One of the things I love the most about my life these days is the crazy synchronicity I experience on a regular basis.  This has been happening ever since I started making a conscious effort to connect with that Universal power greater than myself.  I think this connection is a result of my sincere trust in the Universe having my back and my daily meditations on inviting spirit in to help guide me.  The transformation I have been undergoing ever since has been extraordinary.

One of these amazing synchronous events happened Friday morning after I had written my blog post entitled A Shift in Perception."  Shortly thereafter, I started reading Marianne Williamson's A Return to Love, picking up where I left off from the day before.  Strangely enough, the next section of her book was on making a change inside our heads in an effort to escape pain, which she refers to as a "shift in our perception." !!! Of course my mind was totally blown that this particular passage found me at this particular time.  And I was grateful to receive even more help with this topic that is currently my focus from a renowned teacher of A Course In Miracles.  It almost felt as though Marianne and I were having a conversation about it.  That right there is a miracle.

According to Williamson, what she learned from ACIM (A Course in Miracles) is that, "Thought is Cause; experience is Effect.  If you don't like the effects in your life, you have to change the nature of your thinking."  She talks about how she could make this shift in thinking for a brief period of time but would eventually return to the same old self-defeating thought pattern.  Oof...who can relate to this?!  Are all of your hands raised?  I thought so.

Marianne goes on to say that she finally asked herself "Why don't we stay in the realm of the answer, rather than always returning to the realm of the problem?  Why not seek some level of awareness where we don't create these problems for ourselves all the time?  Let's not just ask for a new job, a new relationship, or a new body.  Let's ask for a new world.  Let's ask for a new life."

Yes, yes, yes!  What she is talking about here is not just making tiny thought shifts throughout the day that combat our negative thinking (which was what I was suggesting in yesterday's post) but rather what's needed is a radical shift in perception.  What's needed is a thought system that is based in love and not fear.  This is what ACIM is all about--rediscovering that inherent loving nature--the manner in which we used to approach life as a child before we were taught how to be fearful, judgmental, cynical, hateful, resentful, hostile, and mistrusting.

So, I ask you--how can you apply a radical shift in perception to your life today?  I invite you to start the day with an attitude of love.  So, whenever a thought that does not serve you arises, be willing to release it and come back to a compassionate, joyful, and peaceful state of mind.  Return to your inherent loving nature, for this is who you authentically are.

Wipe your slate clean and love like a child.
BIG hug,
Brooke
